Job done.  Today wasn’t quite as nice as the last few days; the scenery wasn’t quite as good and the weather was a bit poor.  However, the last 8 miles were fantastic, especially once I could see Land’s End.  I still can’t believe I’ve made it or that 10 weeks ago I was right up at the top of Scotland.  I’ve had a truly fantastic time and I would like to thank everyone who’s helped me and also all the brilliant people I have met along the way.  I think this is perhaps the best possible way to have spent 10 weeks and I doubt I’ll experience anything like it again.  Pictures should be going on soon!

Just one more day to go!  Today was a very hot day but I was glad I set off early.  I made very good time and got to St Ives at about 7, which meant that I could get showered and dressed and then go for a lovely meal with Dad, who has come down to walk the last day with me.  The first 2/3 of the walk today were fantastic with a little up and down but the last bit wasn’t quite as nice as the path made its way through a few coastal towns.  Buzzing about reaching the end tomorrow!

I had a really comfortable stay at Spring Gardens Guest House, although I probably should have gone to bed sooner and sunk fewer pints!  A long day today but I really enjoyed the walk, particularly the last 10 miles along the SWCP.  I walked for about 2 miles along Perran Beach; the view across to Perranporth was splendid, it is a really stunning part of the country.  I have a very long day tomorrow (anywhere from 28-30 miles) so I’m going to get to bed early and get up nice and early.  I can sense the end is in sight!

A nice short day today- spent about half my day on the SWCP and then broke off to cut a corner to Wadebridge.  The weather was much better today, especially when I stopped for my lunch (and a pint) at Port Isaac.  I had another lovely meal, this time at an Italian, and then I popped into The Ship Inn- it wasn’t very busy but the barman, Gary, was incredibly friendly and I had a few pints whilst chatting to him.  Plus, some of the locals came in a little later on.  All in all, a great night.

Mixed bag today…lots of climbing and I found it to be very wearing again, not helped by the weather this morning; rain driving in horizontally off the sea.  It did brighten up this afternoon though and I got in at about 7.30- it was lovely for the last couple of hours.  I had another good night last night, staying at Tee-Side Guest House.  Tonight’s youth hostel is right out on the cliffs and I have a great view from my room.  Had a brilliant meal in one of the pubs in Tintagel, the fillet steak in particular was superb!

Well, the South West Coast Path is as tough as I have heard- dropping down 100m at a time to sea level and then back up (and in no time at all) is not easy.  The path drops and rises repeatedly during a day as well, so things certainly aren’t easy.  I am staying in Bude tonight, which is a smart town and has lots of lovely beaches.  I am also now in my final county- I won’t cross any more county boundaries.  I could stay in Cornwall for some time as well, the weather is fine right now and I have found a good few Cornish beers and ciders that I really like.

A pretty awful day- mainly road-walking and terrible weather made for a bad day.  I had a lovely stay at Cresta Guest House in Barnstaple and I am in a great hostel tonight nd I didn’t get too wet, so all’s well that ends well.  Much shorter day tomorrow and all along the coast, so some good views should be guaranteed.

The weather started to turn somewhat today and I got some rain; it wasn’t awful but I was glad to reach Barnstaple.  I had Mexican for tea and had a good look around Barnstaple, which seems rather nice.  I have left the highest of the hills behind now but there is still some climbing to be done on the South West Coast Path.

The first in a series of long days but it was a great day.  I got up to 519m and again had fantastic views across the Bristol Channel, although it wasn’t quite as clear today.  I am staying in a tiny hamlet, Simonsbath, and it almost reminds me of The Tushielaw Inn- especially as there is no mobile signal.  Tomorrow isn’t quite as far but it is still a good 21 miles.

Need I say it?  Hot again!  A great day’s walking though, not as flat and there were some lovely views of the Bristol Channel and Wales.  My accommodation is a pub that is easily 500 years old, .  I’m looking forward to head into Exmoor tomorrow.
